You can choose which charity you want to raise money for out of the several organizations that have partnered with Charity Miles. A few of my favorites as part of this app include Habitat for Humanity, Ironman Foundation, and Feeding America. I think Feeding America is particularly relevant at this time of year, when many of us eat in abundance during holiday parties and family dinners - but there are so many individuals out there struggling with food insecurity and hunger.
For Day 8 of 25 Days of Christmas Kindness, I downloaded this app and did a quick mile walk (I know, not much but it was pretty rainy out today and the app doesn’t work inside on the treadmill) but I definitely plan to log some more miles this week. I love that this is a simple way of raising money for a charity while doing something physically active to benefit your own health. For those of you already working out, carrying your phone is probably an easy addition to your routine (throw it in a simple race belt if you don’t want to carry it in your hand/pocket). For those of you who don’t currently exercise, perhaps this will give you some additional motivation to go for a walk, run, or bike ride.
