Yesterday was Day 7 of 25 Days of Christmas Kindness, and it fit in well with my Mansfield Couch to 5K group’s plans!  When we finished our C25K program several weeks ago, we decided we wanted to run the Winter Lights 5K in Plymouth.  This evening race was in conjunction with the annual tree lighting, and of course you all know how much I love the holidays, so this was right up my alley!  Proceeds from the race were to support Cape Cod Toys for Tots and the help keep the tree lighting festivities going in years to come – perfect for 25 Days of Christmas Kindness.

Plus there was a VIP party afterward that was collecting Toys for Tots.  We all brought some toys to donate.  And the Boston Bruins Foundation (a charity providing grants to various organizations) was there doing a raffle, so I bought some tickets to help support that.  The VIP party was quite crowded, but we did score a free drink for running and there was this amazing lobster cutout outside the bar (you know I had to take advantage of that photo opp).
And of course, I want to share: my Mansfield Couch to 5K group did fantastic in the Winter Lights 5K!  I’m really proud of the work they put into training for this race, as they were consistently at every C25K training session we had.  At the race, they battled some crowded start conditions (run…dead stop…walk…finally room to run!) and a few hills on the course, plus some calf cramps thrown in - and still came out with great times - both finishing in the 36 minute range.
